Top Festivals In Kilkenny City This Autumn

The beautiful medieval city of Kilkenny, in the south east of Ireland, plays host to some top festivals this autumn. If you're taking a city break in Kilkenny soon, why not make it coincide with one of the following festivals.

The Kilkenny Celtic Festival

If you want to appreciate all things Irish then this festival is a must! It takes place from Friday 25th September to Sunday 4th October. It is essentially a festival of Irish music, song, dance and even Irish food!

This festival features street entertainment, lunch time concerts, a live music trail, a Celtic dance workshop, a camogie game and a currach race on the River Nore to name a few. There will also be children's storytelling, poetry recitals and workshops where you can learn to speak some Irish!

The Rockfall Festival

The 21st annual Rockfall Festival takes place on the October Bank Holiday. This year the festival will have 30 bands playing at different venues across the city such as; Ryans, Kytelers, Langtons, Paris Texas, Matt the Millers and Biddy Earleys to name a few.

One of the best things about the Rockfall Festival is that all the performers play for free so any money raised goes to charity! Rockfall is now well established as a festival for showcasing Ireland's up and coming talent as well as featuring some very well established bands.
